TUR 100k - May 6

Toronto Ultra 100k, Toronto ON
May 6, 2006

“It’s a tough race… So be tough. Be smart, listen to your body; try and keep it pretty steady at 9:15 to 9:20 pace early on and remain calm as you will have rough patches… Relax, problem solve if necessary, re-focus and persevere.” -- Steve

TUR 100k is a relatively flat 10k out and back in Summerlea Park along the Humber River, on public bike paths that incorporate small bridges and that run under Highway 401. The route is surprisingly scenic, peaceful and shady. I didn’t really keep track of accumulated time, but rather focused on each 10k segment separately. There were times when even 200 meters seemed like a very far distance. I guess that after all those months of preparation, actually finishing is a bit anticlimactic.
